OOTAMA sits in the heart of the South Downs National Park, on the edge of the village of Alfriston. It’s the perfect location for foraging due to a moderate climate and the country paths that run alongside the Cuckmere River. As well as sourcing botanicals through foraging, many are homegrown in OOTAMA’s lush garden.
With just one person behind the scenes at OOTAMA, the weeks can be quite busy. But they are very enjoyable. The variety of jobs that need to be done provide that spice of life and working so closely with the seasons, the weather and nature means processes are forever changing and there is always a lot to learn. This all leads into the philosophy and meaning of OOTAMA - waiting, anticipating and looking forward to.
